Currently, demand for the product is growing, Italy expresses productions of recognized excellence and is the leading exporter in Europe.

Two trends have emerged in recent years: the recovery of partly abandoned traditional historic chestnut groves and the establishment of new intensive plantings. Common goal is to increase volumes of valuable productions.

Extensive efforts have been made by numerous Italian universities and study centers that have invested in genetic, disease-fighting research and the development of chestnut and crop management techniques, with new technologies, machinery and new patents.
